You have decided to take control over your health and turn your body into a fat burning machine doing ketosis.![ketosis diet]()
Fat is now your new best friend and no longer the dreaded enemy. You learned to track your food, to read labels and to enjoy new recipes. Congratulations!! You are on track to a healthier you!!!
At the Nutritional Healing Center of Ann Arbor, we want to take you one step closer to THE HEALTHIEST YOU!
Now that you have the diet under control, I am here to help you target the non-edible items to get you faster into ketosis.
This is only particularly significant for those of you doing ketosis for serious health reasons.
Here is a list of everyday household items and the healthier noncarbohydrate alternatives that you can conveniently pick up at our Healing Shoppe.
Toothpaste/ Mouthwash:
They are at the top of our list for obvious reasons, you can swallow them :).
They are particularly detrimental because they tend to contain artificial sweeteners to improve the taste of the toothpaste. Saccharin is a commonly used one. There are also the sugar alcohols, sorbitol and xylitol, that not only prevents toothpaste from tasting bad, but also help avoid cavity formation, so many dentists give it a gold star. However, they are carbs that have been chemically modified (given it the name SUGAR-alcohol). But once in the body they are metabolized back to the original carb, therefore your blood sugar is affected.
We recommend:
Revitin: This toothpaste won’t sabotage your ketogenic diet, it will actually a prebiotic toothpaste that promotes your oral microbiome balance. $15
Body Lotions and Sun Screens:
They rank at number 2 since they cover the body largest organ. The fact is, much of what we place on our skin, is absorbed right into our bloodstream. Be particularly aware of ingredients like alcohol and artificial fragrances that might affect your glucose reading if you are tracking it through a blood test.
We Recommend:
All Youth Ever Needs Body Lotion: This all in one Lotion comes scents free or in a lemon meringue scent ( only essential oils). This combination of Mango Butter, Macadamia Oil, Coconut oil and Argan oil, is not only 100 % natural and organic but it’s made of the ingredients with the highest fat content. $25
Herbal Body Food: Price Range from $25 to $125 depending on the size.
Badger SunScreen: The only active ingredient is Non-Nano Zinc, a particle that is too big to penetrate the skin through the pores. $13.5
Anti- Aging Argan Face Moisturizer: A blend of organic Shea Butter, Argan Oil, Rhassoul Clay and Lavender Essential Oil, making it the perfect face moisturizer to feed your skin with the perfect nutrients while allowing it to breath. $30
Deodorants:
The number 3 offenders are Deodorants and Antiperspirants: The body has about 20 to 40 axillary lymph nodes located in the underarm area. Lymph nodes are responsible for draining the body out of toxins that are being released by fat cells in the ketogenic diet. We want to make sure to use a natural deodorant that doesn’t clog the lymph system and facilitate the detox process.
We Recommend:
Truly’s: main ingredient is coconut oil and a blend of Essential oils $10
Dr.Mist: DeIonized Water $13
Pachy Deodorant: Organic natural ingredients, they even offer a Baking Soda free Formula for sensitive skin. $13,25
Other products to be picky about: Our safer alternative:
Shampoo and Conditioners | Ecco Bella: Hair and Scalp Therapu Green Tea and Neem Shampoo and Conditioner $21.5
Ecco Bella: Moisturizing Vanilla Shampoo and Conditioner $21,5 |
